Binocular photorefraction – Precision preventive care
the starting point – New partner for new model series Plusoptix needed support for producing a new series of camera parts for children’s eye tests(Photorefractors). They sought a manufacturing partner who could also advise on design. Due to toolcraft’s long-standing expertise in mould making and injection moulding, Plusoptix chose toolcraft. The Challenge – Guaranteeing optimum functionality In mould making, a decision was needed between undercut sliders and forced demoulding. Forced demoulding was chosen to reduce costs and prevent contamination during moulding. Parts also had to be free of flow marks and sink marks. Precise fit was critical for screw and snap functions. The Approach – Excellent advice from start to finish An interdisciplinary team from mould making and injection moulding was formed. toolcraft advised on plastic-compatible design, built three moulds, and produced the parts. Quality control was performed using optical measurement (GOM). The Result – Optimization and reduction toolcraft optimized the battery cover geometry, eliminating an assembly step and reducing manufacturing costs. Customer requirements were fully met, enabling the new model series to launch as planned.
Bio-artificial turf made from ARBOBLEND® (NaKuRa): sustainable, environmentally friendly, suitable for play.
A product made from our ARBOBLEND® material: In Ellwangen, an artificial turf pitch made from bio-based materials has been created. A milestone for sustainable sports facilities in Germany and a model for Europe. With around 9,000 artificial turf pitches in Germany and an estimated 16,000 tons of microplastics released annually across the EU (source: ECHA), NaKuRa (sustainable artificial turf pitch) is an urgent contribution to ecological renewal. The focus is on the ARBOBLEND® infill – an innovative infill granulate that is biodegradable in soil and water and remains durable as long as it stays within the system – as well as the artificial turf fibers made from a specially developed ARBOBLEND® formula with high temperature and weather resistance. The other implemented environmentally friendly systems, such as the novel elastic layer based on pure recycled plastics, represent a well-considered step towards a circular economy. Sustainability in sports is not only possible – it is crucial for the future.

BLOW-MOLD STRUCTURING
Precise 3D-LaserEngravings can be perfectly formed in parts from blow molds and used in the A-view area. The use of blow molds in the production of plastics is the first choice when it comes to high economic quantities. 3D-LlaserEngraving is used to ensure that the highest level of surface quality is also possible in this process. Sharp-edged and detailed engravings can be carried out digitally and make it possible to compensate optically for production-related molding losses in series production. The engravings can also be lasered deeper in areas that are difficult to demold, in order to create a uniform image in the product. But even there are further purely technical advantages: vent holes in steel and aluminum molds could be specifically integrated into the design of the engraving. Technical properties such as flow behavior can be easily influenced by the use of fine, very round engravings.
