About us
MS-Schramberg GmbH & Co. KG is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of permanent magnets and assemblies. For 60 years, the traditional company has stood for solution competence and quality. Significant success factors are the high level of expertise, an above-average commitment to training and further education, a high willingness to invest as well as intensive material and product development. Around 500 employees in Schramberg in the Black Forest develop and produce customer-specific articles for companies in various industries worldwide. Important industrial sectors are automotive, heating and air conditioning, electrical and automation engineering, and mechanical engineering. As the requirements for permanent magnets and assemblies are becoming increasingly complex, MS-Schramberg assumes responsibility for the entire value chain: from material selection and compound development to in-house tool, fixture and equipment construction. Extensive know-how on shaping possibilities as well as mechanical and magnetic material properties are combined in processes with state-of-the-art process and automation technology. Based on many years of experience and the use of modern simulation technology, the course is set for efficient design of magnetic forces right at the beginning of a development process. Together with intensive cooperation and customer support, this creates the basis for our innovative magnet and system solutions.
Our product range includes:
- sintered hard ferrite magnets
- sintered samarium-cobalt magnets
- sintered neodymium-iron-boron magnets
- plastic bonded hard ferrite magnets
- plastic-bonded neodymium-iron-boron magnets
- plastic and plastic composite parts
- customer specific assemblies (magnet systems)

Magnets and plastic gearing
THE PERFECT COMBINATION OF MAGNETS AND PLASTIC GEARING As a result of technical progress and technological change, especially in the automotive industry, there are now applications that integrate gearing and magnetic components into the same assembly or in one single component. In order to meet these requirements, we are now offering the optimal combination solution comprising magnets and plastic gearing. In particular, you will benefit from our many years of experience in 2-component injection molding.

Components for cooling water pumps
MORE THAN JUST A DRIVE In order to protect combustion or electric engines, as well as other power units, in vehicles and to power them efficiently, they have to be cooled effectively while preserving energy. The demands on electrical efficiency, smooth running characteristics and noise levels in vehicles keep ncreasing. In addition, durability in different fluids and at various temperatures and pressures is another requirement. Rotor solutions that meet these high standards can be developed using FEM-supported magnetic field calculations as well as the optimisation of geometries and wall thicknesses through filling simulations. We achieve a continuously high quality thanks to a linked production process of multi-component injection moulding technology with assembly units. An efficient production process for series production and a magnetic compound optimised for specific applications serve as the basis for the use of the “drive rotor with impeller” system solution from MS-Schramberg.

Efficient use of rare earth elements in rotors
The growth of electric mobility and the expansion of wind energy have already led to greater demand for the rare earth material neodymium. This development will continue to intensify and rising prices will be the result. The increased power requirements for small drives and pumps, with simultaneous requirements such as miniaturization and weight reduction, necessitate the use of high-performance rare earth elements. That’s why neodymium materials must be used as effectively as possible, i.e. with minimum use of materials. The use of samarium iron nitrite must also be pushed. Since the mining of neodymium also produces large quantities of samarium, the availability is higher than the demand. This means that a certain price stability can be expected for samarium for years to come. Material price fixing over project durations is therefore fundamentally conceivable. Based on this assessment, we have developed a process that can minimize the use of materials through a targeted combination of hard ferrite materials with rare earth materials and optimally adapt the power density according to customer requirements. Depending on the operating temperature ranges and environmental conditions, we use neodymium iron boron or samarium iron nitrite in addition to the hard ferrite base material. In many cases, the magnetic yokes (iron core, laminated core) that are needed can also be replaced by the plastic-bonded hard ferrite magnets.

MS-Schramberg "in the Medium"
YOUR APPLICATION – OUR SOLUTION Permanent magnets are used in a variety of media. This results in high requirements in terms of resistance and / or compatibility with drink ing water and foodstuff s. Due to their partly limited corrosion resistance, magnetic materials require additional protection depending on the medium used. The solution here is to find the correct combination of magnetic material and adequate protection in the form of a coating or encapsulation.
